“A historical and educational video-mapping show in major cities across Germany marks the story of Kristallnacht, which occurred in 1938.”
The Challenge
- Anti-Semitism rose sharply in many parts of Germany.
Many German youths are unfamiliar with the terms ‘Kristallnacht’ or ‘November Pogrom.
Evidence and archival materials from Kristallnacht have disappeared from collective memory.
Kristallnacht is not marked on the German calendar, except in a few official places.
The Solution
A video art installation that combines documentary, artistic, educational, and interactive elements will take place simultaneously at several locations across Germany on the evening of Kristallnacht, 9-10 November. The aim is to connect the younger generations of the German and Jewish people toward a future of tolerance, a shared vision, and healing the wounds of the mutual past.
